I mean besides the fact that the S-crew has 4 full front hinged doors, and the back seats are a tad bigger what is the main difference? Am I correct in my thinking that with the S-cab you still have 4 doors that open, only the back doors are smaller and open with a back/suicide hinge rather than a front, like the S-crew, and the back row of seats is just a little smaller and less roomy than the with the S-crew. I know I have to check it out for myself to see if I like them both pretty equally, since I have only been in a S-crew, but the main reason is that the S-crew is like 3 grand more than the S-cab. Thanks for the help again bros...FLU
If they are anything like the 97-03s, the Supercab is tiny. It's uncomfortable to sit in and I'm only like 5' 10'' 170lbs. It's a 1 person max type thing for any drive over like 15-20 mins.
IMO-It's 3K well spent now on the Crew with a 6.5ft bed. You'll seriously regret buying the supercab if you even barely want the Crew. Also I think the Crews look a lot better than the supercabs, but that's purely my opinion.
i would have to voice my own opinion, the supercab looks better to me, the supercrew looks.......forced? but, the four full doors are far more useful than the halfdoors you get with the supercab. if you have children the full doors will be better utilized, if you hav adults in hte back its even better. for everything but looks, id definetly get the four door,
There is plenty of room in the new style SCabs. I've had an 05 and now an 06 XLT SCab. Both with the 6.5 box. My dad has riden in the back seat and he's 6' tall. He had plenty of room. You don't gain that much floor space from the SCab to SCrew. I also like the looks of the SCab better. The advantage of the SCrew doors are they open like normal doors, and the person in the back doesn't have to wait to get let out.
I will very, very rearly have anyone in the back, it will mainly be to keep files, and other things I don't want to get wet, or keep in the box, (sample books, exc.). And with looks I guess everyone has their own opinion? I like em' both pretty equal look wise, but I will go to the dealer in a day or so to form my opinion. Just interested in what you guys have to say...FLU
I compared the two and went with a scab. There isn't much more room in the screw to justify the money they want for it. Get a scab and you can have your 4x4 for the price of a 2x4 screw!
Well my 04 was a scab, and my 06 is a screw...... hands down I prefer the screw. I have found that the weight distribution on the frame is better with the screw, which provides an overall better ride (yes, these trucks were the same exact build, with a different cab design only). Also, with the screw, you get an actual pillar next to the front seats, which not only help with the overall rigidity of the cab, but provide better protection should a side impact ever occur. Oh, and your seatbelt is mounted to said pillar in the screw, whereas it comes down from the roof on the screw. I love the extra room in the screw as well. I dont know where the figure of 3k came from, but I remember the price differential being closer to $1500 USD when I was looking.
Edit: I just built an 07, and the price differential was 2400. Id still go with the screw if I had the choice again.

i have an 04 scab and if my truck was any longer (i have the 6 1/2 ft. bed) i would be unable lengthwise to fit it in my garage, but, having children it would be much easier with the 4 doors and windows that open. i would also get the power sliding rear window because once your on the road its out of reach and even if you have it open in advance there isn't any way to adjust. just my .02
To me it comes down to if you will have more than one passenger on a regular basis. Or if you ever plan on taking a trip with more than one other person. I am 5'10" and I rode for 4 hours in the back of a scab and felt like death afterwards. The screw is like ridding in the back seat of a limo. It is about 6-8" of leg room more than a scab. Seems like a big price to pay for that much space, but if you consider your passengers then it is not. If you use the truck as your work vehicle and you rarely have anyone ride with you, then go with the scab. They are both good trucks, I just need room for my son.
Sounds like you would be happy with the s'cab which is what I have. It's plenty of room for the occasional passengers or any gear you want to take with you - just my opinion
(i have the 6 1/2 ft. bed) but, having children it would be much easier with the 4 doors and windows that open.
FYI, the windows in the scab do go all the way down. I thought that was such a cool feature. Not much storage space in either unless it's under the seats, which is minimal if you have the Audiophile system with the sub under the seat. Either way both are great trucks. Good luck!
I have an 04 SCAB and the only time it is inconveinent is in parking lots with someone right next to you. Trying to get into the back without being able to fully open the doors in a major PITA. The price difference, which will probably be felt at trade-in time, shorter length and almost no one but the dog riding in back made the decision for the SCAB.
c'mon the windows in the s'cab do not go down. and don't tell me there is a crank on the inside of the door panel.......the average individual is not going to go to the trouble of popping the inner door panel off. drill a hole into the panel and hope it lines up. And then go out and find a factory door handle in order to wind down the rear windows occasionally.
