I know its an old thread but I thought I would reply. I put one in my 04. The wiring harness plugs into the passanger side kick panel. I had cab lights so I had to get the one with that too. The outside temp probe is a little hard to find. It is up under the front bumper. I used my neighbors excursion to trace. It is basic a plug and play. The hardest thing is cutting the head liner. The mpg on mine is with in 1 mpg to hand calculated. The temp is very accurate too.Very glad I did it. Good luck

I've been wishing and hoping for one as well. I think i test drove a SD w/ console with estimated MPGs. i know i test drove one but don't remember console. Was this an option or was i dreaming?

I read somewhere that the speedometer is different if you get the overhead console with the truck...adding it later prevents use of the MPG function as there is no hookup for it....anyone know if this is true??

Well just heard from my bodyshop that a complete dash harness is needed for
the 2000-03 models because the trucks had to be ordered with the options on
the vehicle to make it work. For 2004-up the harness already in the truck should
have the conectors there that are needed to make it work. My customer had to
go with an electrochromatic mirror to get the compass and the temp settings.
