I've got a electric Autometer Cobalt water temperature gauge that will not calibrate itself once the key is turned. The funny this is that it works fine when the temperature is warmer out, say 50 degrees. But when its cold the needle will only move down 10 - 15 degrees instead of hitting the stopper.
This is very annoying as the gauge will be pegged out unless I turn on and off the ignition until it reaches the stopper. I have a feeling that can't be good on the igniton/gp's at all.
Has anybody else had this problem or know of any solutions? Spring is a long time away yet.
Was it a temperature issue though? I've already sent in my pyro because the thing was junk. I just can't figure out why it only does when its cold.
I don't want to wait another two weeks for a gauge. Plus I don't know if I can return it since I've had it since September. I will have to find the paper work.
I would just buy a new one and then return the old one on the new reciept.
That's the way I do it all the time. No waiting and then you have a fresh reciept and a no questions asked refund.
That could be. I will call tomorrow. I'm not very impressed with these gagues. First the pyro and now the water temp. Two out of the three I have malfunctioned. Thought the Autometer products were top of the line.. especially for the price for them. Oh well.
I've been lucky so far with my autometer's, but next time I'll buy the ISSPro gauges. Glass lenses and metal housings instead of plastic and more plastic.
I agree the autometer's are kind of cheesy.
