so i guess i get the last laugh.a bunch of trucks showed up to run today.i raced the duramax.he is bone stock 2006.first race 2 wheel drive.both spin like crazy but it is a tie race.i mean photo finish.next race i launch in 4x4.smoked his a$$.off the line by twop truck lenghts.pulled another half by the finish.so poop on all you guys that said i would get killed.we ran a bunch of times.i ran my friends f350 6.0.he also has 37 inch tires ,intake, edge programmer,4 inch exhaust.he beat me by two trucks.two gassers ran also.2004 lifted chevy and a 2007 dodge hemi.another photo finish.if i re-gear and that duramax gets an exhaust and tuner it should be a good race.we taped it.if i can get someone to put it on you tube i will.
My buddy has 06 dirtymax with an exhuast and an intake. It runnin 37" and is lifted. His truck kills mine. We had a truck pull once. It was in a dirt barn and neither of us would move unless we got the jump. I have a picture somewhere, i will post it if i find it.
first what is done to your truck.i have 37inch bfg mud terrains,dp tuner, bts valvebody,5 inch turbo back exhaust.itp feul kit.no intake yet.also from what i have heard a tuner makes a big difference on a duramax
i am going to 4.88's also. Even in stock tire mode, i wanted to have a little bit higher RPM for the speed and gear i was in. We have two trucks with stock tires and 4.30's and i really like the engine speeds they run at. With 36's (355/60) and 4.88's, i will have the equivalent of a 4.27 ratio if it were to have stock tires. So that's pretty close. 4.56's would get me a 3.99 ratio and i don't know if that is steep enough for me.. Currently i have a 3.26 effective ratio.
Strokin The Truck Looks Awsome.its Good To Here That You Think 488,s Are Good Because Everybody Said I Am Nuts.it Should Still Be O.k. On The Highway Right?
Well i really like the feeling or the torque launching you into the backseat. Now with my setup i dont really get any of that, my seat back has had an easy time. With 4.30's on our trucks, it runs 2000-2025rpm at 60mph. I rarely go over that because i dont drive on the highway much. Most of the time i cruise 50-55 and that would be at 1750 for me or so. Now i cruise 50mph at a little under 1200rpm.
For the record I love my superduty....BUT (j/k). Plan on buying a duramax LBZ in May. This is happening because my wife can't drive a stick and I want most bang for the modded buck.
320 hp to the wheels and 560 lb-ft of torque stock. Now the only reason I agreed is because my truck is being sold to family with option to buy back first before they list to others. Thought I would post the numbers to the guys interested in what they make at the wheels. Better get some drugs.
Again I'm a Ford Superduty fan, wife is not (don't hate me).
Bye the way, hooking a chain and having a tow off only proves somone got the jump, as stated above, or someone is getting better traction. An official race at a race track (for safety reasons) will show who has best power, bumper to bumper tow offs are for kids.
I know dissapointed to say the least. Wife gets what she wants I'm just the poor sap that has to pay for her mistakes. BTW, my truck was almost paid for. So much for the new toy hauler.
