hey to all the great ones,
i guess its time now to do few fuel mods in my truck,
hutch, harpon mods, i was thinking on regulated return, and a fuel filter,
is there any writup on how to get rid of the fuel filter on the motor ,
or any writup on the whole fuel system?
now to remove those Ford fuel lines from the pump do you need a special tool?
can any of you guys chim in, and give few sugestions
if its possible with prices too,
ill have few hundred to spent, and from what i just noticed this is a weak point now, the trans will be moded ot replaced too,
thanks for you help in advance
I should be able to help here. I have all of that stuff listed and it is very nice. I don't have all the time to write up everything in detail, but here is a basic overview: Intank/prepump mods, all quick disconnects removed. 3/8" fuel like into a Carter 4070 lift pump, into a Dahl 150 fuel filter. 3/8" line to a stock pump, 3/8" line into a Y-block that replaces the fuel filter housing. The regulated return system from Dieselinnovations is what i have, it is on a christmas special for $50 off i believe.
i just look on their site do you have the whole kit? its like 450$
and the Dahl150, i have look closer, i just check Dieselsite and they have CPR system are they any good, it has everything, and i can just add a lift pump,
what do you think?
I got the lift pump from Jegs, the filter from Dieselsite, the reg return from Dieselinnovations (yes the whole $450), and the Y-block from Summit racing. It was nice because the fittings on the y-block were the same for the dieselinnovations kit and it just hooks right together. It also has a fitting for a fuel pressure sender, which i will be using soon..
Take a look at my gallery. I've since updated the fuel filter hose routing with the correct fittings (thanks ponch37300 )
why would you want to remove the factory fuel filter? is it restrictive?
strokinit, did you notice any difference after you added the carter lift pump?
Well with my Dahl 150 on the frame, it really served no purpose as the Dahl filtered much cleaner than the stock filter would. Plus i plan on BTS big oil, stacked pumps so that gives me more room in the valley for a second turbo in the future.
I did the lift pump the same time as the rest of the fuel system so no i did not notice a difference in the pump alone.
Hey strokin' nice pics. I've been doing a ton of reading about the regulated return. I have done the in-tank mods and am now wanting to dig a little deeper. I can't tell by your pics, fuel line comes in, goes to "Y" then to original fuel line inputs passenger side rear, drivers side front? Then what? Does the dieselinnovations system create new return lines from the opposite sides of the fuel rail then to the regulator? Do you keep the stock check valves (as they call them) at the original fuel inputs? How hard is it to get to the back drivers side of the fuel rail? Tell me what this specific mod did for your idle/performance, etc. Thanks!!
Well the system removes all of the check valves, and feeds the rails from both rear ports. Since the engine is naturally canted upwards at the front due to driveline angle, air naturallly rises to the top, and at the front it is allow to escape. Both front ports are the returns back to the regulator. The plug in the rear is not hard to get to, and the socket included (9/32" 4 point) makes it that much easier. The fittings are tapped into the head at an odd angle and it's easy to get them cross-threaded if you try to install them perpindicular to the head.
I didn't notice much of a difference at idle, except the fact that you can adjust the fuel pressure now easily, and you can run on virtually no fuel pressure... however i do know now that i do not lose fuel pressure (power) up top now due to the stock restrictive lines and fittings. If you ever tried blowing through one of those check valves, it makes you wonder how it ever kept fuel pressure up in the heads under a load. I might have a picture of a CV here, let me look.
thanks for the info Strokin
you guys are great, im starting to collect parts, and get it done in the spring,
where did you get the Y block from, and High perf, parts store will have it?
thanks
and if you get a chance to maybe do the droving of the lines ? just maybe
that would help a lot
thank you Kris
and did you do anything to you trans?
i have 83k on mine, and i was wondering whats next?
BTS VB, New TC, cooler, i knoe New TC and trans would do, byt dont have 5K to spend now,
which of the mods would help put power to ground,
thanks again
Peter
All i have done to my tranny is a BTS valve body. She shudders like a little girl when i rarely get on it, that is why. Im preserving my tranny hopefully for some Kelderman...
hey Strokin, can you give me PN for that y block from Summit, im getting that DI kit and i want to get rid of that stock filter,
do you have place to get Dhal 150 cheap? im looking to get it too

It's off-the-cuff comments like this that make me feel WAY over my head! Sometimes I feel like I should go back to my old Maverick with the nice, simple, carburated inline 6.
