If you don't mind second hand ones you can keep your eye on craigslist.com - you'll just need to check regularly because there aren't a lot of them out there.
Look into www.supertyte.com I bought my wheels from them, and i paid an assload, only because i wanted expensive tires and expensive wheels. They specialize in exotic wheel brands, however if you tell them what kind of wheel and tire you want, they can get it done very cheap. Tell Robert that Kris sent you.
You see a lot of stock tire/wheel sets on eBay from people upgrading. ( OEM TAKE OFFS ) It might not look as nice as a set of 20 inch Arellis but you won't be paying $1200 per corner either.
Take-off OEM 18's that will fit a '99-'04 are out there, but are becoming very hard to find. There were a couple sets of the H-D version on ebay the other day but they were in the 1,500-2,000 range for the set. There was a set off a KR a couple months back that went for under 1,000.
The 1,500 ad was for rims only, 2,000 ad was for wheels and tires. Tires were just the stock Goodyear AT/S 275/65R18. The set for under 1,000 were rims only.
Not sure what your price range is, but you may want to check these out. Tire Rack lists them for a 4X2, but they are the same. The H-D wheels are actually a steal at that price for new.
so what are the biggest tire sizes I could go with for a 17 and 18 without it rubbing.
I am running 35X12.50R18 on mine, but I do have some rubbing on the leafs at full lock and a little on the fender liners. Not a issue for me. If the tires were just a little narrower they would not rub.
Toyo now offers a 285/75R18 in both A/T and M/T, there is a chance that they are narrow enough that they just may clear the leafs.
305/70R18 is another choice but they will probably rub a little also.
Not sure on the 17's as I was specifically working around my 18" OEM wheels.
now do you have a leveling kit? I keep hearing about that. That would allow me to run 35x12.5x17s?
No my truck is completely stock, but I do have V code springs upfront. V codes are 1 step up from standard and were part of the stabilizer package on my truck. If I had the standard U code springs there is no way I could fit a 35.
35X12.50R17 would technically work, but finding a wheel that would not cause the tire to rub may be difficult.
