When they sit for a long time all kinds of things happen. Valves, rings, and cylinders rust. Pistons corrode and seals dry up. It may or may not run properly. PB blaster or ATF down the cylinders may help to loosen things up but only time will tell.

It might be wise to invest in a top end gasket kit( intake, heads, and valve covers) first and open up the top of the motor and check the condition of the cylinders. Otherwise like Torque said it might come around or not. It's a toss up when a motor sits for any real length of time. Good Luck

Like Torque1st said,,take plugs out PB blaster or ATF, let her soak, turn engine over to clean solvent out, reinstall plugs and fire her up. you may want to run it awhile before shutting off. Take a short trip, compression check, if engine looks like its coming around, change oil and drve it. Couple full throttles may help seat all back after a good warm up. Good Luck

Sound good Matt. Did you do the usual stuff after you got it running. Change the plugs, wires, clean or rebuild the carb. etc. That might help it too since it sat for a long time.
