P1400 code on 02 Explorer

P1400 code on 02 Explorer
Hi,
My 02 explorer has a service engine soon light on, this first occured a few months ago, back then I erased the code and it didn't reappear till about a week ago.
Theres no noticable problem with the running condition of the engine.
Code seems to come on after the first mile of travel after the code is cleared .
Replaced the Dpef sensor with one I bought at Auto Zone, traveled 60 miles to a game no code, explorer sat 3hrs till game was over, on way home code reappeared after a mile into the trip, theres no problem with the running condition of the suv. I understand this is a common problem with Ford Explorers.
Engine is a 4.0 with 74000 and the code is P1400.
I also took the Egr off to check its not carboned up which it was not.
Would appreciate any advice on troubleshooting this problem.

I would suggest getting the DPFE sensor from Ford.. I've heard that could be an issue. Also, check the condition of the hoses / pipes that feed the DPFE sensor, if they are plugged up or detoriated that can cause issues too.
