bearing preload

What type of noise could you expect, if any, if pinion bearing preload is incorrect? Truck is 2003 witha 3.55 ls differential.

What noises are you hearing? A low moan means you're out of place on the ring-pinion lash. Bearings usually schreech at you when they go out.

This noise starts around 40mph sounds like hum or tire noise under acel., but quits when you let off gas. It also sounds like a left front wheel bearing sometimes when coming to a stop.This all developed aprox 1000 miles after a pinion seal replacement and 3000 miles over warenty.

did you check to see if the pinion is still tight?sometimes after replacing the pinion seal, if the pinion nut isn't replaced with a new one they'll loosen up.
