Good evening everyone. The other day I went to put on my e-brake and I heard a loud pop!! Upon further inspection the end of the cable came off. Has anyone had this happen? What did you do to fix it? I haven't had time to really check it out yet, would like as much info as I can get before tearing in to it. Thaks in advance.
i had mine break on my F450 about 4 months ago with a man. tranny. i have yet to get around to fixing it, what a pain in the a*@ it is hooking my trailers up on any kind of a hill. from what i can see the center cable, or the cable from the pedal to the back of the truck broke. there are 3 cable all together. one center cable from the cab connected to a left and a right cable along the frame around the back of the cab. it looks like a pretty easy and inexpensive repair as far as i can see from my repair manual. i am going to attempt it this week. i will let you know how i make out.
You didn't say which part broke but I'd bet it is the one that directly attaches to the e-brake pedal assembly. If you have a Napa auto parts store go there, mine did the same thing (front cable broke) and it was like $15-20. It is not that hard of an install, just a few cuss words were used.
