We replaced the front window on my son's 96 crew cab today and while we were in the window mode he asked if we could fix his rear windows. They are binding in the channels. There is play in the front to back placement of the windows in the side channels. It is as if the channels are 3/8 inch too far apart and when the electric motor tries to raise the window back up it pushes the window forward and it binds in the rubber channel and the window does not just go straight up and down as it does in the front where the channels seem to be the perfect distance apart that maintains a snug fit that keeps the window level. What is the best way to fix this problem?
My rear door glass was doing the same thing and all it took was some adjustment and it is working fine now. I tried to copy the instructions from the service manual but it won't work. Sorry.

Do the instructions have a good section on this issue? He keeps asking if we can git r done. Can someone share this info?Or maybe briefly describe the procedure? Thanks, Eric
Is it still cocking in the tracks? The tracks are adjustable but only to a point. The scissor lift may be worn out. Use a little silicone spray on the tracks too.
Nothin like a little lubrication my friends. Maybe you should get into your "Tim Allen" mod and add a bigger motor that'll force the window through the binding point perhaps, lol
No bending, IIRC there are 2 places to adjust. What is the window doing, not doing?
Yes, it is still cocking in the track or binding if you will. We are getting ready this week to repair the lock solenoids on three of the doors and while I have the back two apart I want to get the rear windows tracking right. So if you recall correctly there are a couple of nuts to loosen so we can adjust the tracks closer together? I've done the clean-out and a good application of silicone and I lithiumed the little plastic rollers in the metal channel at the bottom of the windows but after I got everything back together the windows still were jamming or binding in the tracks. When you first push the button it goes fast for a second until it gets pushed forward and gets jammed and then it is a struggle for the window to keep going up. If you stand at the back door and guide the glass to keep it level it goes up straight and fast and strong.
After you get the door panel off you'll be able to see when the slop is. I put the window half way down and adjusted the tracks. It still ***** a bit when moved by hand but goes up and down a little better. The scissor & rollers are shot and I couldn't find a replacement. I ordered one from A1 Auto and they sent me the front door scissor, no worky. Eventually the gear wore out so I welded and filed new teeth on it. IF you find a source for a replacement scissor, Let me know. The dealer sells just the assembly with the motor, big $$.
