My son called and told me the heater core sprung a leak this morning. Question is how easy or complicated is it to replace the core on an 84 Bronco with air conditioning. Never done a Bronco or F-series truck heater core, have done a number of mustangs and other 60s, 70s and early 80s cars. Just wondering if this will be good bonding time with son or frustration time struggling with something designed by a person that has never held a wrench or screwdriver in their hand.
Not to bad of a job. Drain down the coolant. remove the heater hoses from the heater core under the hood. Passenger side under dash, put towels on floor to catch any coolant. Remove glove box, remove the heater core cover and associated cables and vacuum lines and controls. Pull out the old heater core, install new heater core, and reassemble in reverse order. Refill coolant system.
Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds real easy compared to the last on I did where half the dash is removed and you still have to cut the air plenum to get the core out, then figure out how to reseal the air plenum where you cut it open.
Sounds like this should be a 2 hour job, disassemble run to parts store and then re-assemble.
