I got the K&N 77 Series for mine cuz it had a heat shield and a nice chrome pipe. It added some nice sound, and added some HP giving the truck a smoother power band. Although i didnt notice any real MPG gain

I swapped the air filter OEM filter for a K&N and gained 2 - 2.5 MPG, and the engine seems to operate smoother, although I'm not sure with any more HP or torque.

Just an FIPK alone don't expect any power or mileage increases. I went with an AF1 a few years back then bought those cheap chrome heat shields off ebay and it bolted up perfectly.

about the only real difference I noticed was a little better throttle response and the engine growls a little bit with that big of an open filter. Any of them will work I'd get what is the best price and what you think looks best. Add a better flowing exhaust and a tuner and it will show some real gains. The only 1 or 2 mods I ever did that actually added power and mileage were Efans and UD pulleys together.

I just intalled an Outlaw Power cold air kit on mine. I can't verify any mileage increase yet since I just filled up, but I did get better throttle response and a nice moan when opened up. I also have a Predator tuner and a Flowmaster cat-back.
These cold air kits actually seal to the fenderwell and don't draw in heated under hood air like most systems do. They are priced right too.

There are a couple of pictures in my gallery under 2001 stuff. They are kinda dark, when I figure out what the wife did with our good camera, I'll take some better ones.
