It seems that every time you turn around someone has a new tuner they are hyping as being the greatest. What capabilites do these have? I would say for most of us, the power is king. For some, yes power, but the biggest factor is diagnostics. Is there a source available that compares the different tuners and what diagnostic capabilities they have. Will the 1705 perform a cylinder contribution test? How about the Sniper? I'm looking for a tuner that when done tweaking my beast, it won't just hang on the wall. Which ones allow you to see the PIDs when the engine is working? When a code is set, it would be nice to see when.
1705 simply loads tunes and pulls codes. No cylinder contribution test.
Sniper allows some custom tuning, but again limited diagnostics.
There is no product that you can buy that will be an all-in-one package. Most folks buy either a tuner or chip of their choice, and for comprehensive diagnostics and troubleshooting rely on Autoenginuity. Two separate things to buy, I know, but it's the best option you've got on the market right now.
