I notice almost everyone on here is a big fan of the MBRP exhaust. I was just wondering why everyone seems to lean that way instead of Borla. Is it just the price, because the MBRP in 304 stainless is about the same. I saw that Borla also has a downpipe, is it just that the MBRP has an easy to do cat removal and addition? I've always been a Borla guy, that's why I ask, sorry to start the exhaust discussion again, but getting ready to upgrade with the SCT, and want to know which exhaust is better.
Probably a couple of reasons why. Borla is fairly new to the diesel systems, MBRP isn't. MBRP uses a system that allows you to bolt the cat in and out with an optional cat pipe or you can get an off road no cat system. MBRP has aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless systems to pick from too. Then there is the price the Borla is usually more in the same material etc.
If you have any questions please call us, we are the oldest MBRP distributor in the world and can answer any questiosn you might have plus we stock it all to keep it available when folks need/want it.
I'm running a Bassani 4" turbo back kit. It also has the cat kit, off-road or with the cat, and 3.5" down pipe. It is 304 and has a great sound. Low tone and not all that loud. It took 45 mins. to install the whole kit.
I agree with Mark, Borla has been in the gassers for a little while. I love my MBRP, only system I've heard that even sounds close to mine is a silverline, the rest I've heard I could care less for the sound they put off. It has the 747 jet sound at idle and when I really get on it people behind me tell me it sounds like a race car. Course I have a early 04 so my turbo is a bit louder than newer trucks. Funny tidbit, took truck into service shop for an alignment, recomend setting truck back to stock if tuned, guy took it for test spin, I forgot to tell him its tuned and putting out well over 400 rwhp, guy came back in to shop, oh and I heard him get on it down the road, and told the others in the shop "Man that F'n truck is fast", he told me the truck is alot faster than other tuned psd that come in, said it scared the sh** out of him.
