But how much? Why year is your truck? There are changes in the engine depending on the year that could limit the Hp and torque you would want to think about attaining without changing some internal parts. Also if your looking for an absolute Hp monster, the you may have picked the wrong platform. It's achievable but extremely expensive to make crazy Hp / torque with a 7.3.
what are your plans for the truck? towing, street racer, pulling monster, etc? there are very different paths to go down depending on what you intend using the truck for.
Again a budget is really necessary to give us some direction also
I really want to make it as fast as I can now and turn it into a pulling truck a year or two down the road when I get a new truck. I would like to spend about $600-$800 a month.

IMHO this would be a very expensive way to do things. They are two very different setups. You would be replacing a lot of components that will only a couple of years old to change from a racer to a puller.
You may want to also save your money and knock out several upgrades at one time while you are in there. There are things here and there you can onesie twosie, but overall a lot of systems need to upgraded together, and the costs of a lot of these will exceed your monthly budget.
Again this is my opinion, and you plus some others may have a different perspective.
Okay I guess I'll stick with a racer.
I like buying several things at once.
About a month ago I bought my exhaust, tip, and tuner at the same time and I emailed the place and asked them if I could package it together and get a discount. They gave me $45 off the exhaust and $95 off the tuner and gave me free shipping (everything was at my house in less than 48 hours). So I would to prefer to do more than one upgrade at a time.

Start pricing out new, bigger injectors, a new HPOP to go with them, a new turbo, a new transmission (if an auto) as these are a known weak spot (BTS or JW is preferable) new tranny cooler, new fuel system to support your huge injectors, if your truck is after 2000 my then new rods (they phased in PMR's just after then, which limit you to about 400 - 450 Hp), you may as well change your pistons and have them ceramic coated while you are in there, maybe an over bore (up to about .40 over is max IIRC), head studs, new valves, springs and rockers. New brakes to stop you and your new found power and speed, ladder bars to stop your axles wrapping, a water meth system.
Begin pricing some of that up and come up with your plan of action. Searching this forum will yield a pile of great information to help you on your journey.
