Mission acomplished... My install went well. I basically just drilled and tapped 4 holes in the metal plate of the seat then just screwed in the monitor mounting bracket with the supplied hardware. I'd say the headrests were the easiest part of the install. I mounted the dvd player inside the center counsel. You can see a picture in my gallery I plan to post more pictures tomorrow. Thanks everybody especially l8rg8r.

Headrest Monitor

I went with headrest mount. One problem I have is the control box the monitor connects to does not fix completely under seat. There is no room under the seats, any sugestions? It is currently under seat but hangs out some and I am scared kids may kick it and damage it on accident.

Checkout my gallery... I installed mine vertical in the center counsole... It came out very nice and works well with easy access. Very nice system considering I only paid $300 at Fry's. I did have to install a ground loop isolator from Radio Shack to eliminate a bit of hum in the audio. The remote sensor is mounted down near the rear seat controls.

my dvd unit sticks out a little so the middle seat passengers can access it easily. in one year i have had no problems other than the occasional person turning off the unit mid movie with their foot. i also put under the middle seats a 12oow power inverter and the gamecube system. the game cube is not mounted, when the want to play the pull it out.

I have an '03 Expedition. Factory DVD is fine, except headphones are wired, and only good for 2 headphones (I have 4 kids, so that doesn't cut it). Looking to install monitors in 2nd row headrests (so boys in 3rd seat have their own DVD). Anybody ever done this? Thanks.

WAY TO GO 3KIDDAD!! Looks great!

FWIW, I put my video control boxes under the rear cup holders in the back of the center console. There is a ton of room in there.

As far as the player itself, mine is in-dash. For a stand alone player, probably under the second row bench is going to b e the best bet.

My truck has the bench seat for the second row and the headrests are so small. I don't know any monitors that will fit. However, it may be possible to mount them directly in the seat back. Of course this wouldn't be a good idea if you ever lay the seats flat to haul stuff as the screens may get smushed.
