We have huffed ((roots type)) and dumped a LOT of NO2 in a 2v V10 and spun her all the way to 7200RPM on a big 1200HP dyno with no serious down side other then to see that the HP and torque were flat from 6300 RPM and up...all valve train maxed out and starting to float full open... only way we got past 6300RPM was dumping excessive loads of gas and Nos in her...stock cast manifold was cherry red I might add... Internals were all FoMoCo stock... the owner did grenade the motor on third run at a local drag strip...impressive fire ball!!
First, thanks for the info. How much boost where you guys running on this motor?

I think he said he had the 12 Pound pully set on (that day) but not sure ... I remember him saying something about getting the boost in the 15-20 range
It was some years back and I was not really associated with the owner..I happened to be doing some work on my drag bike using the "little" dyno.
The guy using the "big" dyno was having a LOT of trouble, so the shop owner suggested he ask me to take a look..
I could tell it was running way too lean.... on my suggestion he stopped trying to feed the injectors AND the Nos fuel all from the regulated fuel rail. In fact I told him the entire very long runs of plumbing from the tank to the motor was to small of a diameter to flow the volume for the motor AND the Nos system.
I suggested he add another "dip" tube into the tank and add a external pump for the Nos system and seriously consider a higher volume "in tank" pump for the injectors
The next weekend was back for some more dydno time
