Wastegate control valve question
What would usually cause this? Also how hard is it to replace? I don't need a new turbo right?
Also does anyone know where the model/size/trim info for the Garrett turbo's are on the housing so I can see if it is a stock or upgraded turbo?
I appreciate it.
Oh here are the mods to the truck if it helps
4" striaght exhaust, no cat or muffler
AFE intake
and I'm "told" it has an edge chip in it. I have not opened the PCM to see if this is true.. (I'm assuming chips would be inside the PCM.)
8" lift with 37 in tires and it has a TC lock on it.
Oh it has a trans temp, manifold pressure, and I believe an EGT gauge.. The truck use to haul a 5th wheel.
Hopefully I have time this weekend to tear it all open and check it out..
Thanx again.. This site rocks..

1. I'd like to see a girl in an "F-truck" lifted 8" with 37's driving around.
2. I'd like to see the wacky hitch for the 5th wheel, it must be a high reach neck on that trailer.
back to the topic, We're just shooting into the dark unless she had written down the "P0XXX" code
She gets more looks when she's driving the bronco that has the 40's on it.

The 5th wheel hardware has been removed, just the wiring is left..
Well the codes that are written down are with her friend and not here so I have no idea what is going on now...

P1249 Wastagate Fail Steady State Test
P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired
Now I just have to find out what they mean. *searching with the search function, but if anyone can chime in and help me out I'd be grateful*

1211 is from the injectors calling for more oil than the stock hpop can supply. Hot tunes will generate this code when you push them hard. Nothing to do other than not get into it hard in hotter tunes, or get Big Oil.
1249 .... not sure on that one. Red line to the wastegate actuator is plugged in? Hopefully Alan will be along with some good diagnostic tips.
Trending Topics
DTC P1249 indicates that the PCM detected the turbo was overboosting.
If you were in fact not overboosting (>24psi)
Step one is to take off the red line and make sure it is not leaking
then make sure the ports it pluggs into are not plugged.
then plug it back in to the WGC solenoid (Black box on intake) and see if it will hold a vacumn, Also check to see if acuator will hold a vacumn.
If no leaks check WG rod adjustment. If leaks present replace leaky part
As long as 1690 does not come up 1249 points to mechanical issue
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

From what I've been reading in my search is the 1211 code is normal for chipped trucks.. Also the 1249 could be normal if boosting hard.. My wife tells me the light will come on but go out.. Never stays on very long.
BTW.. updated my sig.

But from what I'm gathering from my searches these are something I shouldn't have to worry about and are normal for the mods that I have.

I almost gotta lift her foot into the truck with my engine hoist it's so heavy...
(This is why I want to get a good tuner/chip setup where I can set it a lot lower so when she's driving it it'll save gas)
Hmm Dp tuner chip and hide the select switch?
Truck is running awesome.. I really want to get a boost gauge for it.. All the gauges in it are more for when the truck had the 5th wheel on it I guess..

The fix? Either don't drive it as hard (boring!) or get yourself one of these:
