I thought I was going to be reading more entertaining Amsoil arguements, and what I find is some super duper pooper scooper, hilariously funny, entertaining Undergutcheysoil arguements. Go figure!!! Oops, time for a change...
PS Hanes is OK, but I still feel "The Fruit" brand is the industry's undisputed leader. Also, I beleive they were even a sponser for Robbie Gordon's #7 Chevy in Nascar Nextel Cup competition. Of course I am not a Chevy fan in Nascar, but at least FOTL is in professional racing.
Now see, you've been suckered in by the fruit's shady marketing practices. You don't think Robbie Gordon really wears them in races do you? Having their name on the side of a race car doesn't make them better skivvies, man, it just mean they have a bigger marketing budget. Go ahead and wear your fruity underwear, but when you catch yourself pulling that wedge of fabric out of your crack to give your boys some relief, you can't say you didn't know better.
Since neither Hanes nor FOTL are very sludge-resistant, a high-detergent cleaner must be used on a frequent basis, especially if you're using Amsoil's internal body additive (aka Amsoil vitamins). Best cleaning results are achieved based on a time-used basis, not on mileage.
I feel that testing and analysis is the only way to determine change intervals. Usage patterns can vary greatly with time and often there are unexpected results. The regular scientific use of AH (Aromatic Hydrocarbon) and OS (Optical Scanning) test equipment will often result in more frequent change intervals. Some random emissions can result in a positive reading with AH test equipment and even damage to the OS equipment of the user and others in the area. The damage to the OS test equipment is usually transitory but the AH test equipment can continue to read positive for quite some time. Increased ventilation can reduce this time interval. The AH equipment detection capabilities are also reduced for some time because of the random emission and some users may take advantage of this reduced sensitivity detection period to have non-random emissions of their own. When the immediate concerns over the emission(s) have been cleared up OS test equipment can often confirm no damage was done. If damage has occurred a change interval is initiated with the accompanying use of a high detergent cleanser and other cleaning products..
From a research perspective, Torque1st, sounds like you're much more experienced than the rest of us at critical analysis techniques. Perhaps it's the high percentage of locally grown corn in your region that has created such abunudant opportunities. Then again, it could just be a matter of individual design and capabilities.
So... would you be willing to personally oversee the analysis of our submitted samples, making sure that the number of samples tested and analyzed is proportionately representative of the general population so we can end up with study results that are statistically significant? From what you described in your post above, I believe that you have the necessary credentials to make sure that our efforts aren't just blown into the wind, so to speak.
Has any body recieved the recall FOTL346706 yet ? It says I can't renew my plates unless I have this recall done. Seems to be a problem with the seat warmers and FOTL's catching on fire during a backfire . They need to had a spark arrestor in the drivers seat since some year FOTL's don't have this.
Thanks for the heads-up on that, firesoutmatt. Just another reason to stay with the custom silkies I mentioned earlier. No recalls to-date on those babies. The natural insulating properties of the silk both prevent the need for and minimize the potential impact of external seat warmers.
Alas, after many years of testing around countless campfires and nights in tents my AH test equipment has suffered permanent and unrepairable damage. Someone may want to contact the Philmont Scout Ranch and see if any of the participants in emissions based baseball games still have AH test equipment that works. Their OS equipment may need baseline recalibration due to shifting tolerance levels in the field.
Free wheelin' boxers are the only way to go. Why cramp those guys up, give em' some breathing room and they will repay you many times over. FYI though, on the old Harley I recommend nothing, lest you be cussing them every few hours or so.
