Ignition Key Problems
Bad news is that it wasn't until I had most of the tilt apart that I gave up and decided to short cut it (by cutting the piece). Bad because I wasted a whole day trying to figure the thing out rather than taking the easy way, and also because I seem to have broken the shift indicator wire plastic cover. Hoping I can superglue it and still leave the wire inside free to move - otherwise I'll be looking for one.
Oh, BTW, also tried to fix my blinkers by changing just the cam rather than the whole $100 piece -- no good. On top of that, as I found out 3 hours of troubleshooting later, the contact wires on the cheap replacement piece I bought were too long and making my blinker and brake lights do funny things.
So, all in all, truck should start now (when I finish getting it together), changed bulb in dash, broke shift indicator, blinkers still will not hold in position. I think I'm ahead -- slightly.
Anyway, thanks for your help -- couldn't have done it without you. And if it doesn't work -- I'll be back!

My truck, however, has a manual transmission does this mean I don't have an automatic column? It's tilt and under the speedo is the gear indicator which has nothing to indicate.
If I don't have an automatic column then am I SOL getting parts to fix it Catfish?
Loosmaster. The diagram you posted is pretty tiny. Where can I get that diagram?
Well, I just went out and tried to start it by jumping the solenoid and no luck. It would turn over but no start. It's only 4° outside but it usually starts ok in this kind of weather. After looking at the outside of my steering column and I'm starting to think I'm just going to have blow a wad of money for a tow and a mechanic.
This will be the second time getting this fixed and I suspect there must be a flourishing business in makingand selling these parts even crappier than the original crappy part.

After it was already in the shop I came across this thread with some really good pictures of my problem.
