howdy ya'll, i'm new to the site, i have a 96 powerstroke, and i get the hiss at a constant speed, which upon looking on this site it appears to be the exhaust backpressure valve, sometimes when it does it i shut off the truck and restart it; it goes away. i unplugged the connector under the orange tube of the intake of the turbo. and drove it around cold and it did not do it anymore. my question is there a permant fix or should i just leave it unplugged. thanks tim

some people take them out, you have to plus the holes left by the valve. ive had mine unplugged for over a year now, it doesnt do any harm to just leave it unplugged. people take them out so it can breathe better, but i.m.o. it doesnt do the truck any harm to just leave it in and unplugged.

Howdy! Welcome to FTE. As previously stated, if you don't actually need the EBPV it will be fine just leaving it unplugged.

I increased my fuel mileage 1.5 mpg when I unplugged mine, but I also had a decent malfunction at the time, truck runs better without it.

Mine was sticking closed and the dealership unplugged it. I plugged it back in and now use it as an exhaust brake
