hey hows it going? well i got into a fender bender and it actually bent my core support so i went and bought a new one for 50 bucks and i was wondering if there was any easier ways or best ways to replacing it besides drilling out all the welds putting the new one in than spot welding them back onto the new radiator support? any and all information would be helpfull thank you!
What year truck do you have? My 77 F150 is just bolted in and not welded, there are welds in the core support itself, but none where it connects to the inner and outer fenders.
If you have spot welds, you have to drill them out and weld the new core support in. There really isn't any other way to do it. Try to weld only where the factory welds were, this is a part of your trucks structure. You want it to react just like the original core support if you wreck it again. Too much welding and you'll just cause more damage to the truck in the event of another wreck.
Measure carefully when putting the new panel in. You can shim and adjust the headlights and grille, but it has to be close if things are going to fit up correctly. You might even want to brace the inner fenders back where they aren't damaged to keep everythign from moving when you are welding it together.
I am assuming this is a Ranger. Since it is the only truck I am aware of having a welded in core support, unless that has changed in the newer models.
