Yea speaking of spark we are going to get a HEI or DUI distoubtor to replace fords old system.yea with the new distoubtor and that pertronix second strike box that is already wired in.That should help with the spark factor.

HP was measured differently after 71 and you are right about the accessories not being included before. However, manufacturers have never to date rated horsepower to the wheels.

If you use early 460 pistons and late heads you get around 9.5:1 compression. I built one of these for a wrecker, my son saw the owner doing burnouts in his parking lot with it later. He cooked the clutch within a month, we had to go up to the 12 inch clutch to hold the torque. I don't know where the compression would be with the EFI heads, we used 86 truck carbureted heads. If you aren't too far away (shipping would be a pain), I will have a set of 1990 EFI heads and manifolds (intake and exhaust) available shortly. I amd using 93 heads on my project. As far as surprising people, try outrunning them in a 7500 lb dually. I personally have never had a problem with Ford's DurasparkII ignition, I used one on my 77 F150 with a 4 bbl. 390 when I put it together, never had a problem with it once I put a NAPA box on it.
