Hello,I was wondering for a 1995 EFI INTAKE MANIFOLD will fit on a 1975 for 460?It just need a little help in the MPG.Yea people look at me and laugh when the see the truck. They are thinking how can something that big be fast. They are shocked when a 5640 lb. truck beats there little honda,And the motor is almost complty stock. All i have done is tuned the holley 650 that is on it and man does it fly.
What typs of vicals came with the efi 460?I have heard of the E-seirs vans have them.Would the efi heads reatane the stock compresion ratio or raise it?
All the "F" series (150, 250, 350) pickups had them in them. I don't know about the compression issue. But I would guess it would be close or slightly higher than the carb heads.
The compression will depend on what year heads you currently have. With the EFI swap you may get better MPG but yopu will loose performance unless you convert the 460 EFI to Mass Air.
For better MPG I would install a ZF 5-speed or an E4OD trans.
Right now the compresion ratio is 8 to 1. I was going to use MegaSquirt to control all of the EFI parts. And I have been considering a overdrive swap for awile too.I would like to bring the compresion ratio up to 10 to 1,but that is a another project in it self.
To go from 8:1 to 10:1 is gonna take different pistons. You just can't cut heads that much and none of the EFI heads were ever real high compressioned to start with(10:1 is real high anymore).
yea, I was thinking of a motor rebulid, but that will come after most of the body work gets done frist.i just wanted to raise to 10 to 1 so i can get alittle more hp of it.becuse my 1967 cougar with the 289 4V make 230HP at 10 to 1,and the trucks 460 is only 240HP or 250HP so yea there is alot left in that motor.just need the cash frist!

Different horsepower rating systems were used. The 289 woud be down around 150 or less using the ame system for rating as the 460. If you can't afford to build it, how are you gonna afford to feed it?
if that 230 horse in the 67 is stock horse- remember they changed the way they measured horsepower in 1971, starting for 1972 they were all rear wheel horsepower as installed in the car, before that they were flywheel with no accessories, so you have to deduct about 15-20% for drivetrane and friction losses... so at 20% your rear wheel hp would be 184, thats about what youd get if you put it on a chassis dyno- somewhere around or just under 200 horse... if you put the 460 on, youd get around 230 horse
that was funny... we said the same thing at the same time- anyways if you want more power out of your 460 you dont need to raise the compression or rebuild it if your bottom end is sound, just pull the heads off and port them, throw a bigger cam into it- and the associated valvetrane- put headers and good dual exhaust, and that should be a noticeable power improvement
octane doesnt matter unless you build an engine to take advantage of it... using 100 octane avgas on his current motor would actually lower his power slightly because 100 octane is harder to ignite, but on 100 octane you could run about 12-1 compression and have a good 25-30% power increase over the stock 8-1 all other things being equal
That may be true but it does allow one to run the timing ahead more and the older cars had nothing close to spark voltage like todays cars do. Todays cars have a much highter voltage than older ones. All in all I guess it's not such a big point.
