Hello all , Great web sight . I just purchased what i believe to be a 1953 F 100 but ... can not locate ANY vin numbers anywere on the frame and glove box plate is gone . What i would like is to find somebody who could hook me up with a TITLE and DATA PLATE for any '53 , I am not restoring to original and just need these items to register for License Plates and Insurance .THANK YOU for your time and have a GREAT new year , Steve N .
If you have exhausted all attempts to find a frame ID then the next best step is just a glove box with the plate.
With that you can get a registration in several states and then simply do a transfer if you live in one of those states that are real jerks about titles.
Here in NH all I had to do is bring the glove box in, no truck!
Because of the age it does not require a title here but they will issue one if you ask. Im sure there are other states just as pleasant to work with. In my case I didnt want to surrender the original NJ title since it was the original and never transfered. One family truck!
Same problem here...got a truck and cant find nothing so what i did look up BobsF100.com and ask some questions. I found out in NM all you need is a vin number and they give u a title no questions asked. Now how sweet it is i dont know but they want to charge $175 for the whole deal and you have to know somebody to sign it over to you. Not bad unless you cave the junk yards like I have been doing and it is hard to find those years now. I recommend bob first and leave a want ad on this site. Somebody might come to your rescue?!?!!?.
