Does anybody know where there are pics of a front end tilt '61-66 ford where the entire front clip tilts up or maybe just where somebody made a reverse tilt hood work? Or has anybody done this themselves? I'm thinking about doing this with my '64 but I wanna see how it turns out and how smooth it looks when finished...
Check out the link I posted. On the left side of the webpage there is a 61-66 Ford truck tab. At the bottom of the 61-66 page is a tilt front end truck.
i personally tried to use the original metal body pieces and it was just to heavy to work with so i bought the fiberglass front end from us body for my 78 f250. its came alittle more ruff straight from the mold than i would have liked but o well. the hinges they send with it are junk so i made my own the work great from an old set of spring hangers and a set of drop shackels i got from a lowering kit
Thanks for the post. You have me wondering how much weight would be saved with this setup. Not sure what the current weight is but it has to be several hundred pounds vs a hundred maybe for fiberglass.
ya when i made the huge dog house making the cage and all the panels its was a bare to even tilt it to work on it , i cant even imagin opening and closing it everytime i need to get under the hood. my new fiber glass one i could tilt it with one finger.
it was just made from the rear spring hanger, some 1in square stock, one u bolt plate and a drop hanger from a lowering kit. with some welding thats what i came up with.
Classic Truc Magazine has an article on 53-56 front tilt installation, not sure if it would provide any pointers. Should be able to locate in their online 'tech' section, if unable and interested, believe I have it bookmarked.
Purchased repro replacement fenders, thickness of a beer can, for flareside and initially refused the shipment, picked the package up and nearly thru it over my head. Thought supplier made a mistake and shipped fiberglass replacement fenders instead, so called and told fiber glass weights more. Who would have thunk it! My preferred supplier placed items on backorder, learned lesson not to get impatient and also don't lean on the fender.
