Code 1131
The CEL came on yesterday morning as I was driving my daughter to school. It was very cold outside and when I started it, there was a strange whine coming from the engine. Almost sounded like the train whistle on a kids railroad set. As I pulled away, the nengine seemed to be laboring a bit, but again, it was below freezing and I did not let it warm up at all. Then the CEL like came on.
Took it to AutoZone this morning and they pulled the code 1131, which they tell me is the O2 sensor.
Last week I had my mechanic replace the right side manifold gasket as it was leaking. A labor intensive and expensive job to say the least. Could my CEL O2 sensor issue be related to the manifold work? Or is this just a coincidence?
Any idea if this requires some sort of simple cleaning or a full replacement of the sensor?
Cold temps can elicit all kinds of noises in an older vehichle.
The use of lubes and loosening agents can contaminate Ox sensors especially ones that have age on them already.

If this is the same side that just had the manifold gasket replaced, then the fault code very well could be related to the recent work. Any exhaust leak upstream of the sensor will introduce fresh air into the exhaust stream and will cause a faulty reading.
