I have a 92 explorer 4.0 auto od when driving if you let of the gas it will slip out of gear then when you press on the gas it will rev up to 2500 rpm before it goes back in gear. the fluid is full

Your trans is slipping. Most likely you need a rebuild.

My old 94 Ranger 4X4 started out doing something like that, then it wouldn't shift out off first gear unless you backed off on the gas, then it would shift to 4th. But $2457.00 dollars later it was all better. Those 4 speed OD trannies are a little weak even if properly taken care of, Fluid and filter changes etc. Good Luck.
