Question 2000 Excursion Quarter Glass Help

Can anyone help me?

The actuator arm on the left quarter window on my Excursion broke in two and the receiver on the glass is broken as well. I went to my local dealer to get the parts. They have the actuator, which comes as a package with the motor, for a not too bad price of $50.00. However, the receiver piece that screws on to the window comes as a package with the glass for $1,000.00.
Does anyone know how or where I can get the receiver for the window????

Any help will be appreciated.

Holy moly! I don't know what to tell you other than to maybe find one in a recycling yard or attempt to repair the broken parts yourself. Sorry...

An accidental breakage of that quarter glass would be rather timely, wouldn't it?

(oops, did I say that out loud?)

Try one of your local glass shops, they might be able to get you one from an aftermarket company that makes the rubbers for new glass installs.............

The part that mounts to the window doesn't screw into the window, it's held on with epoxy. Mine became separated from the window and I cleaned it up real good and remounted it using high strength epoxy for glass.

Hokie,
Not quite sure what you did, but, unless I am totally losing it, my part unscrewed from a stud that is I'm sure epoxied to the window. I know this because when I unscrewed it, there was a stud left sticking out of the window. The stud had threads on it as did the peice that I was holding in my hands.

Thanks to all for your replies:
Given that Hokie says his was epoxied on the window and Carpainter's reply of checking with the glass shops, I think that's exactly what I will do. It sounds as if the stud is epoxied to the window and the receiver is screwed to the stud. I sure as He** hope so.
Thanks again for all of your replies, I will let you know what I find.

Last time I looked at the Ford price lists for the Excursion was blown away to find a price of $3,200 each for the rear quarter windows. This wasn't Fords own glass company but even there's was listed at $1,500 each.

The challenge for you may be finding the part with the bolt that expoxies to the glass (without buying the whole glass unit). If you can get that part you're home free.

I just spoke with a guy that worked on the QW program and your description above is accurate. I'm not following what exactly broke on yours other than the arm, but if you need a new baseplate and are thinking about getting one off a junker his comments were..."Good luck." That epoxy isn't going to let go very easily and you may just want to hit a salvage yard up for a new quarter window.

If you have any other questions about it, let me know.

Thanks for the reply.
To clarify, there is a peice that screws onto the stud. The stud that I have is fine so I don't need a new one. However, the peice that screws onto the stud is broke and that's what I need to replace as well as the actuator arm that fits into that piece. I have been so busy, I haven't had time to start tracking this down.

That sounds like the much lesser of the evils. Maybe a salvage yard would have one.

I would think your best bet is to replace the entire window through insurance, as mentioned, (stay with Carlite) or go to the junkyard and find a complete window, or find a broken one and clean off the mount. Using a heat gun should make the job easier. Then use Loctite mirror adhesive to remount it. Dont use Permatex its worthless.
Most likely a glass shop (including mine) will tell you the same, or get it from Ford.
Figures, I just replaced one of these about a month ago, I didnt know you couldnt get the part seperately.
