Visiting the Hobart demo trailer at Big R tomorow, then sheet metal work on the front fenders. Put up Christmas lights before it gets dark, then autocrossing all day Sunday.

The truck is in the body\paint shop( how does Atlantic Blue Metalic sound?) so having more space in the garage I plan to work on the interior door panels. I have some nice vinyl fabric and some padding to try and come up with a nice design for the doors. I dont know how much work time I can get in but I'll make it at least as far as the beer fridge !!!

Brian_B, man I hear you. I only wish I had a shed to work under. I have a big wood heater I can move around or move the truck closer for heat.
This weekend will be taken up with class assignments, final reports, last week then semester exam next weekend, so no truck time for me until after 12/16.

I feel for you guys that have to work outside. I know what its like, it wasn't that long ago I was in the same boat. I now hav a 2 car attached garage, insulated and finished, and equipped with an old Pepsi machine that keep beer just on the edge of freezing.....mmmm

Well, I'm off to a good start. I managed to fabricate my other spring loaded pin latch for my tailgate this evening ( toss back a couple of frosties). Hopefully tomorrow or Sunday I'll get a chance to try and "tick" something else off the ol' to-do list and actually install them in my gate.

If things go as smoothly all weekend as they did tonight, then I'm in great shape

Good luck all
Bobby

I also need to do a bit more grinding and smoothing on the tailgate.

If I get time I'm going to try grind down the spot welds and seperate the bed front from the bed floor on my donor bed and start making measurements to fit the bed front into my bed.

My 12 yr old had a neat idea for a battery location. I was going to modify and old metal beer cooler as a battery box and just have it in the bed of the truck. While my son and I were looking at the bed the other night he

suggested I recess the batter into the bed floor and have a trap door in the bed floor for access. I'll have to take some measurments but I think I can make it fit. It looks like there is enough room at either of the front corners of the bed just outside the trucks frame. I might have to notch the running board as my truck as the running boards have the horizontal protion that attaches to the frame.

Good luck to all, may your weekend days pass slowly (unheard of for weekends) and your progress be positive
Bobby
Bobby I always enjoy reading your posts. You bring a lot of enthusiasm to this hobby, and I find it very motivating.

Hmm....I am in the process of giving final exams right now (on the school computer). My last one is on Monday and then all the fun of grading everything and the gradebooks.

Now...back to your regular topic.

BTDT for WAAAY too many years! I still have to pinch myself every time I walk into the garage, and just tonight as I walked down to the mailbox I marveled at finally having a large paved driveway! Bobby, my wife just got me a refrigerator for the garage for Xmas, we plan to bring it home from the store tomorrow. She had to give it to me early because she ordered it online and had it shipped to the store. It was pretty obvious what it was when the UPS guy wheeled in this big box with pics of the frig on every side, plus it was too big for her to move around. First thing I said was "how am I supposed to get that in the Miata????"

The temp. has finally gone up to 20* from a week of below zero. So I can finally pull the rear seat out of the merc, pull the trunk lock, and hope for a key code, or better yet, the keys. Gotta work OT on Sat. so my time is relatively limited. My F1 will have to wait.

The way it REALLY goes on weekends...

I thought I'd throw this out there, see if anyone sees similarity to how their weekends REALLY go:

First thing, I decided to install my newly refurbished horn, just to clear some workbench space. Had to pull the hood trim off to get the bolts thru the hood that hold the horn. The serrated washers on the "F-1" badge studs took off for parts unknown when I undid the nuts, clinking as gravity took them down into darkness. So I got down on my hands and knees to retrieve them. I found the two flat washers, and one serrated washer, but still missing one. Searched all over the frame, the engine, the radiator shroud, etc, I mean every inch of the front end, all the floor under the whole truck. No luck. I would just go to the bin and grab another one, EXCEPT... To my horror I see my distributor is out, and there right in line with the F-1 badge, is the hole in the timing cover where it goes! About an inch diameter, what are the chances that the washer would flip right down the hole??? It would be like hitting the basket from full court, but that washer was no where to be found!!

I spent another hour feeling into every nook and cranny on the truck, and all around it, still no luck. I was resigned to having to pull the timing cover to have some piece of mind (this would be a weekend job at the least). While laying under the front end, mumbling a few nasty words, I looked over under my roll-around, about ten feet away. I see a glint. Got a flashlight, reached w-a-a-y under there, and sure enough, it's the washer!! I measured -- it was a solid 10 feet away from where it fell! Whew!

So that was half my day off... I got the horn installed and wired up. Pulled my heater, only took 15 minutes (and a whole bunch of skin off my finger when pulling on a hose that gave way suddenly)...
Anything like your weekends???

since i work friday nights(right now) my weekend hasn't started yet... Tomorrow I am going to see UK play Indianna though here in Lexington. I go to just about every homegame and have for the past 18 or so years. However, UK is dissapointing me this year.

Hopefully we play well and win, then i can come home and work on my truck in happy mode

edit: and the shorty headers finally came in, and from my preliminary fitting sessions it looks like my steering linkages (not bought yet) should clear fine

I'm hoping that I may get a day or 2 that I can get outand get my running boards stretched and maybe even start to fab up the floor (its all square tube steel, need to be covered in sheet).. then maybe if I get really ambitious, I'll finish welding up the roof
