Did a Google search for Ford 7.3 ULSD. Searched a site from BP with question/answers on the new ULSD. They said about the same as Chevon about o-ring leaks also went on to say parties with pre 2007 diesels should contact manufacturers about maintenace change over of orings for future problems(cover your #ss?). Also went on to say its the diesel vendors choice to sell the ULSD at the 2006 deadline , the only state it applies to at this time is California, But the rest of the states have to change by 2010. Also the law reads any one selling ULSD has to have a sticker on the pumps. I know Iv'e ask and watched the pumps up here in northern Minnesota and haven't seen it yet.
Locally I can't get anything but ULSD anymore, in fact the farmers are even getting it for offroad diesel because of the transportation rules associated with it they don't want to have to buy another entire fleet of trucks for delivery. Funny thing is I don't believe the farmers realize it and watch what is going to start happening with the older diesel tractors, and since the change over was federally mandated, and rules associated with it are federal rules, and at no point does it say that off road diesel has to stay LSD instead of ULSD the farmers are not going to be able to sue the distributor of the fuel but I sure would like to see some of them try suing EPA for the damages it's going to cause.
We have had ULSD here since about late june 2006 BUT we have yet to see a sticker for ULSD on a pump because they cannot be certified 15ppm pumps until the old LSD residules have been flushed out of the tanks and holding farms. So what we have been actually getting is Uncertified ULSD with a sulfur content below the old LSD 500ppm mark but not certifiable at 15ppm yet.
Been ULSD here since mid October. We actually had a diesel shortage in areas around Denver. I guess they let those storage tanks go completely empty to get rid of the old stuff.
I work at Emory University in Atlanta, and we started our own biodiesel program for all of our campus and commuter buses. we are now running B5 and will be going to B20 when we get more equipment in. the plan is to go to complete B100 in the next year. supplied totaly by the veggie oil on campus! the business plan is to also 'seed the market' and start selling bio-diesel to the public.
anything has to be better than ULSD that Atlanta has had since September. i've had to add 12 to 16 oz of DK at every fillup. i was considering brewing my own bio-diesel, but if my employer is going to start selling it i might hold off.
Our local FS (Farm Service) stations used to carry B11 diesel, now they went to ULSD, and no more bio. I'm pretty pissed off about it. My impression of the first tankful (which might also be my first tank of winter fuel) is that it is down on power noticeably.
i dont think that they sell bio during the winter. does anyone know the deal with that? or am i just crazy, something about still working on the additives for the anti-gelling?
