head light wiring

I'm rewiring my 55 F-100 and are wondering if I should use the original head light switch or switch to another one. I've read articles about getting brighter lights and was wondering if the switch itself would make a difference in the brightness of the lights. Has anyone used any after market switches that worked better?

The original switch would work fine, especially if you are changing to 12 volts. The original unit is fairly heavy since it is a six volt unit.

I went with aftermarket, and two switches later wish I hadn't. If the original works, stay with it. The "built in" (on a 51 at least) circuit breaker is superior to aftermarket fusing, in my view.

I'm using the 56 12 volt switch in my 54 f100 and it works great.

Like anything else, make sure your grounds are clean and have good connections. Nothing will dim a light's brightness than a poor ground. The headlight switch won't really make a big difference.
