Hydraulic roller cam selection

It's that time in my 434 build. This is what I have so far.

Block - 400 bored .030 over
4 bolt main caps installed
Tim Meyer 434 stroker kit
CHI 2V heads (bare, ready to build)
Weiand Intake manifold
Kevco oil pan
Centerforce Flywheel

I want to go with a hydraulic roller cam. I know Comp Cams makes a retro fit kit. I just need to get ideas as far as duration and lift. I will be using my truck for offroading, towing, and sometimes stepping on it...

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

You need to consider your compression ratio, gearing, trans and cruise rpm.

I plan on running 4:11 gears. CR will be about 9:1. 4 Spd transmission. I would like to keep my cruise RPM about 2600 to 2850 roughly.

Check with Tim for your cam. He knows all about the retrofit HR cam selection.

I'm running the Crane roller set up. I use the smallest of the four (HR-216/325-2s-12). It 216/224 duration at .050 and 562/586 lift. Might have been able to step up to the second one but I was afraid of idle issues. The cams were probably developed with only the 351c in mind. I'm very happy.

bringing this one back to life. What did you decide? I did a special grind with comp that is 212,218 and .520 lift. Not big enough for 93 octane with 9:5 cr. I think I like the look of the crane system.
