Silly question, regarding hoist and install engine

I pulled my motor (352). I freshened up the top end, and just remounted the intake and my redone heads.

I still have to mount the rocker arms, pushrods, waterpump and other accessories.

I want to put the whole motor together including the carb on top of the intake.

Can I undo four of the intake bolts and then use them to hook up my engine leveler?

Should I bolt up to it somewhere else?

I think I've got it all sealed up good and not sure what the best scenario is to hook up the leveler.

Pulling the motor, I used the intake holes, but I had pulled the intake off while the motor was still in.

Is the intake bolts strong enough to hold the motor with the tranny bolted to it?

Thanks,
Blair

That is how i pulled my 390 but the tranny was not connected i had dropped it earlier.....but considering the tranny is not all that heavy(well mine is not) I wouldn't think you would have any problems...JMO

the carb plate puller is 12.00 at AZ, Checkers, Kragen, Pep Boys, etc..not sure if it's designed to have the tranny attached as well weight/balance wise though.

If you have a leveler with hooks on the end.......just stick them in the exh ports on each corner. That's how I do mine everytime. NO fuss.
If not, maybe use exh port bolts to bolt chain to.

My leveler has the four chains with the four L shaped brackets with holes to bolt through.

Would exhaust manifold bolts be a better bet to use assuming the chains are long enough?

I'd liek to use the leveler I have, it has a handle to crank back and forth to tilt the motor/tranny.

Just not sure where to bolt it up now that the motor is together.

Thanks.

I've always have used the intake bolts when pulling a FE with the trans, no problems.

*I've always favored the bolt holes in the ends of the head, but the intake bolts works fine.
