Resealing the intake, have everything loose and nessecary stuff pulled out. I have dislodged the intake, but it seems almost too heavy to pick up. Has anybody done this by themselves? I don't have a hoist as recommened by the manuel. What does it weigh roughly? Thanks Blair
Can't give you the exact weight, but that weight is a major factor as to why the aluminum Edelbrock Performer intake has been so successful. Performance is about the same as a stocker, but installation is a snap. The reason a lift is recommended for the stocker is as much for installation as removal. Trying to keep it aligned during installation by hand without disturbing rtv around the water ports is a real challange.
Incidently, the FE stock intake manifold weighs even more than the 385 manifold.
when i took mine off it felt like it was a good 60 pounds. not sure exactly how much it is. but if it is a spreadbore like mine was, my dad and i tied rope around the ports and together lifted it straight up with the rope. lucky thing the edelbrock is 1/3 thw weight. asfar as performance goes, i think the edelbtrock is better, i sure noticed an improvement, but i added a holley cabr and open element air cleaners at the same time.

I ended up doing it by myself, if anyone that is like me and a beginner, I do not recommend it. All in all it wasn't that bad, just awkward, hope I got it selaed this time. Next time I'm borrowing a lift, neighbor told me afterwards he has one in back of his garage. We'll see how it goes, hope to get other stuff done by this weekend. Thanks Blair
Hehehehe, I hate it when that happens!!!! A lift helps alot, pulling a stock CI manifold is the maker of bad backs... I dont even like pulling an aluminum manifold, cuz its the twisting that will mess you up. One day I will figure how to work on my truck WITHOUT having to pull of the manifold to change spark plugs!!!!

I am just hoping that she sealed up, overall it wasn't that bad, just heavy and awkward. Loks good though IMHO, sanded it and painted it Ford Red. Looks sharp with that Holley sittin' on it. Blair
