I'm Curious
does anyone own an early 1980's mustang or Ford vehicle with the 255 Cubic inch (4.2 litre V-8) engine. I'm just wandering, becuase it seems like a rare engine. and at a 111 Horsepower rating, I can see why

It was offered between 1980 and 82 as one answer to EPA requirements. Had poor fuel economy and lousy performance. Was made from a base 302 with the bore dropped to 3.68". Yes, it's getting rare but not in a positive way. I suppose it will respond to some mods, but some people have called it the worse modern engine Ford ever built.

Yeah, not too popular. You'll notice that it's not even covered in the title of this forum, even though it belongs to the same family. (Just no one wants to acknowledge the thing...!)
Even the first engine in this family, the 221, had more HP at 145.
