I recently installed an edge juice woth attitude on my 2003 7.3, the edge manual says they recomend getting the edge evolution to adjust transmission settings....is this trully helpful or just upselling?
From what I understand the juice/attitude is very horrible with transmission control. I have an evolution that I used to run and the lowest setting worked great. I would recommend getting one.
I have Juice w/Attitude and the Evolution stacked. Have not had a problem with either controlling the Tranny. The Evolution is kept at the tow setting, Juice is usually on the tow setting as well. Evolution does give trouble codes and does show your tranny, oil temps., exhaust back pressure, and tranny line pressure. It also increases your power. Overall, the Evolution is worth getting and stacking with Juice. tom
The juice module does NOTHING to transmission operation. If you look at how it's installed (installed one on an early 99 for a guy 3 weeks ago), it plugs into the idle validation switch on the accelerator pedal, the CMP sensor, the MAP sensor, and the ICP sensor on the left head. The ONLY thing the juice module knows is what the engine RPM is and that it has to skew the ICP readings before they get to the PCM.
My friend bought and installed the Evolution programmer to up the tranny line pressure. He likes the shifts now, but having the module and programmer stacked makes his truck nearly undriveable on any setting more than evolution on "1" and juice on "3".
I guess I should have gotten a little more in depth as far as the "undriveable" part.
Smokes like a freight train off idle, throttle is too sensitive (immediate acceleration...no gradual increase), and EGT's climb to dangerous levels INSTANTLY.
Keep in mind that different trucks react differently to the Edge products.
If you search the forum you will find that many people have come to this conclusion.
The evolution worked really well on my truck, I was very happy with it. There are also numerous others on this site that have the juice/attitude stacked with the evo and are very happy with it.
Fact is, any programmer will give more smoke than a chip (reasonably speaking in lower settings). I'm sure some of the guys with this set up will chime in to help you more.

perfect reason why I went to a custom tune from DP tuner..the same go's with bully dog and super chip.. some times they work well in one truck not the other..they were made for a ford truck..not the computer that runs the truck..many different computer's in our fords....yes it was 450 delivered for a DP tuner.but my Trans shift just right now he moved the shift points for me..the pressure in the Trans line was bumped up and the tc locks a little
faster...I new when I got my tuner it was going to work..had to give Jody my computer # to have him make it for my computer.not for the make of truck...its not just a shot in the dark..you know its going to work...also them other tunes dump a lot of fuel to get power..Jody does it with timing, fuel..and air mixture..its done safely for my truck...it shows in the go peddle....IMO I wouldn't waist my money on trying things that may work or you need to stack with something to make it work..go strait to http://www.dp-tuner.com/ and start playing and be done with preying it will work..
by the way.. a guy told here told me he got an extra 105hp to the ground in an early 99 like mine in jody's 80 econo..i was also told this morning that jody's 40 tow out performed a 100 hp super chip..biggest reson for the higher hp is the way jody puts the power to the trans and then makes the trans put it to the ground..450 bucks 3 days i was playing ...

I have had both forever. The Juice/Attitude and the tranny do not like eachother - at least on my truck. I got the evo and now all is well and the shifts are clean and crisp.
As far as EGT rocketing, I have not had this problem. I can hammer the bejeezus out of this thing and just barely get close to 1100 at 100mph - and the truck pulls hard. I have more management over egt's when towing (14-18K) and have had no problems.
I installed my DP Tuner chip last night. I've had a few different "power adders" and nothing even comes close to the performance and driveability of Jody's tunes.
I started with a Banks "Big Hoss" 80 HP chip. Blah. Lots of smoke and that's about it. Then came the Western Diesel ?? HP chip that came with the truck.... Not a lot of smoke but the EGTs went super high, super fast. Not too impressive, but worlds of difference above stock power wise. Made the auto transmission STUPID though....kind of felt like a snowmobile or CVT trans. RPM stays the same (2000 RPM or so) but the truck accelerates. Where's the shift?
Then came the Superchips programmer....trans shifted good. Not different shift points, but the line pressure was raised and the power was there. EGTs stayed sane for the most part, but the throttle was SUPER SENSITIVE and real touchy. But I got the thing for free and decided to sell it. Put the WD chip back in. Been running it for the last 7 months because of the astronomical mileage I got out of it.
But......Jody's tunes rip the snot out of everything I've had so far. So what if it's expensive? My trans shifts where I want it to. The trans shifts LIKE I want it to. The power is incredible...even at the 20 HP Tow setting.
I rode again in my friend's Edge Juice/Evo-powered truck. Yes, it woke his truck up. Night and day difference from an absolute SLUG into a pulling, accelerating machine. I like what it did to his truck and so does he. Would I get it? No. Why? I like the sense of knowing I have an emulator that actually replaces the trucks ROM with a custom ROM for lookup tables and values. I don't want something that alters the data the sensors are sending to the PCM just to "fool" the computer into thinking something is different than it is. Like the saying goes, "Garbage in = garbage out".
So how much was you DP Tuner? Sounds like something I might be interested in, its only money right!~
Jody can also flash your pcm if you are tight on cash. Lots of members have done that until they can afford the chip. The flash with your pcm is $75. You just gotta get it to him and get it back with the truck parked.

Dude, your truck runs like a striped-butt ape now, why spend $430 (like I did) on a DP Tuner chip? The only thing you're going to get is later upshifts and you'll HAVE to get rid of your "Trans Command" thingy. If you really want to spend money, get a good torque convertor again. But that's A LOT of money.
