Lightbulb What Mags do you read?

I'm wondering what truck specific magazines everyone subscribes to. I know about Classic Trucks and Custom Classic Trucks of which I subscribe to both of those. Are there other "classic truck" type magazines out there that are pretty good reads with good tech articles??

Im surprised I haven't seen any Classic Ford Truck specific mags. I see ones for Mustang and some other model specific mags. It wood be pretty nice if there was one for the F100's.

Unfortunately I haven`t found any mags on older Ford trucks but I started buying the "Ford Performance Trucks" when I spotted it about 2-3 months ago. Neat to see some neat Ford hi-performance trucks even if they`re not our older ones.

I subscribe to Vintage Truck. It's a little pricey and only comes out every other month but it's all truck. It's aimed at pre-80s trucks of all marques. The advertising is limited to the back of the magazine and is not filled with bikini clad women (Not that I don't like bikini clad women but it distracts from the trucks, I guess I'm getting old) and is not filled with the same "Old School" (Man I hate that term) lowered trucks with the wagon wheel low profile tires. Their main attention is toward stock trucks but occationally feature mildly modified trucks.

I'll second the Vintage Truck magazine, its very definately aimed more towards those who are doing a restoration and not hot rodding. I don't subscribe to it, but I do pick up a copy every so often.

I think one of my favorite articles was actually about a guy here in Michigan who actually restored a 1952 Ford F-6 (i believe) and put an original garbage truck dump body on it... like to see that one in Custom Classic trucks

I would also like to add one more thing about Vinage Truck, unlike the other truck mags, Vintage Truck, like Jon mentioned, features large working trucks and station wagons. They consider station wagons working vehicle along with trucks.

I currently subscribe to Custom Classic Trucks and Truckin. I let my subscription to Classic Trucks lapse as I will with Truckin. I'm just tired of seeing the same barely superficial articles of builds, most of which are just ads for bolt-on stuff and their suppliers.

I get CCT, but I usually can't wait for my Rod & Custom to show up. I love that magazine! Hemmings is a must also. I think between myself, my wife and the kids we get something like 8 or 9 magazines a month.

I agree - I don't have any truck mags coming any more. Anything I need to know I can find on FTE. This place is better than any mag.

Plus I just OD'd on 350 GMs stuffed in vintage Fords - total lack of manufacturing imagination IMHO - always justified by saying "its easier, or cheaper" (Major disclaimer: Not putting down anybody here, so don't write letters - I just think the pros and promoters should try to think outside the box)

Only mag I have coming is Muscle Mustangs/Fast Fords. Not too sure how long I'll keep it.

edit: Forgot I just subscribed to Early Ford V8 Club for the mag - we'll see what it's like.

I had a subscription to Hemmings but let it lapse. All they seem to have is commercial ads for high end toys and the classifieds had only gold plated parts, or at least that's what I thought from the prices individuals were asking for their stuff. I dropped Hemmings and subscribed to Old Cars Weekly. OCW has interesting articles and tech information. They also have high end toy advertisers but they don't take up the same big percentage of the magazine as the ones in Hemmings, also the private advertisers seem more down to earth on what they are asking for their parts. OCW doesn't have nearly as many private ads as Hemmings but what does it matter if you can't afford them anyways.

I read Vintage Trucks and Cars & Parts Magazines. Both are well worth the $$.

thanks for all the replies. I figured there had to be more out there than what I would see at the local department magazine rack. I'll see if I can find some of these online.

I read a LOT of magazines! probably over 50 titles a month on many subjects. Ihaven't found a good old truck only oriented mag other than what has already been mentioned. Some of my favorite hot rod mags are R&C (I have stored away back issues dating into the 50's) Street Rodder (mostly for the ads!), and Custom Rodder.
I need to subscribe to the Buckaroo publications titles as they are more like the good ol days magazines with real how-to articles and extensive coverage of the build process of their feature vehicles in addition to the finished shots, which I really like! They also often feature articles on how to build your own shop equipment!!! Their subscriptions are a little more money, but that's because their mags are not just shills for their advertisers.

Ax Racer you are right Buckaroo publications are a little more pricey but you do get quality photos and information on tech articles and the buildups.

Lowtrk2k try TRUCK BUILDER, http://www.truckbuildermagazine.com/
which is put out by Buckaroo. I think you would like. Matter of fact in their second issue there is a letter to the editor from John Niolon here about how good the magazine was. Also they put out Street Rod Builder which has a lot of articles that could applied to a custom truck build. Donald

Rod and Custom here. The truck mags were good when they came out but they seemed to start recycling the same articles....just different pictures. You can only do a Volare swap so many times. Granted there are new truck restorers looking for info everyday, but it seemed a little much.

If you are more into customizing and hot rodding, Rod and Custom and Street Rodder are real good. Street Rodder is just a little too much $$$ for me. I just got a 3-year subscription to Rod and Custom for around $28.

I just put my money where my mouth is, took out 2 yr subs to 3 of Buckaroo's mags, and they are giving me 2 T shirts in thanks.
Volare swap, that would be a change! How many versions of a Fatman MII install do you want to pay to see?
