02 Explorer compass

The digital compass reading on my dash always indicates W for west. Is there anything it could be besides the sensor?

I think there's a calibration procedure for the compass; if you don't have the Owner's Guide, let me know.

Have you tried recalibrating the compass? The procedure is in your owner's manual. If you don't have the manual, let us know and we'll walk you through it.

Mine has the same problem, if I recall the compass it works for a little while and then suddenly back to W,with an occasional SW or NW.

Mine does the same, have done the recalibration 3 differant times, in 3 differant locals, no change. Must be a bad unit. Ford is the only place I have found to get a new one. At the dealer price, will wait for a new truck. Unless someone has a cheeper location in mind.
