anyone else have this problem? Just before I come to a complete stop, the engine revs to 1200-1600 rpms and then settles back down. It happens at almost evey stop. The dealer told me they have about 25 other similar complaints. I have no confidence they will fix it.
If your vehicle is still under warranty (which I assume it is), you should have your Ford dealer pull any codes that may exist. Otherwise, you can go to AutoZone or Schuck's and they'll read the codes for you for free.
If you have no confidence in your dealer's competence (or willingness) to solve the problem, then go to another dealer. If there are "25 other similar complaints" as he claimed, then Ford should be aware of the problem, and a technical service bulletin probably exists.
It's very possible that this is a common problem, and that Ford is still working on a fix (likely a computer update or something of the like)...
Make sure that you get documentation that Ford WAS able to duplicate the problem, but not able to repair it at this time.. that way if a repair comes out after your warranty is expired, they will have no choice but to repair it for free.
If you don't get this in writing, if you run out of warranty you probably won't get it taken care of.
Sorry to revive an old post...I'm new to this site. I recently bought an '06 Explorer 4X4 V6. This could be the TSB that anyone with this problem needs to investigate:
