fuel leak

I have a leaking fuel pressure sensor? the one that is on the filter housing. Is there any other place to get these things beside the ford house? I checked ebay but no luck, however i might be calling it the wrong name.

I also would check with International. If it has a o-ring on it you just might be able to get the o-ring and fix it that way. I'm sure some body will pop on here and get you a part # for it soon. Good luck!

no o-ring. looks like an oil pressure sending unit but i bet the spring is set at a lower psi. I could not believe that the aftermarket parts guys don't have this thing but they don't. But i feel a lot better about my truck now. I thought i had a bad oil leak at the pan but turns out it was mainly fuel, so i don't have to pull it just yet.

I've got a fuel leak that just popped up. It is coming somewhere just aft of my fuell filterr housing. I really can't see where it is coming from though. Could this be the same thing?

could be. but mine was dripping straight down from the drivers side of the filter assembly . i had to use a little flashlight and basically lay on top of the thing with it running to find the drip. mine was leaking through the switch and was dripping from were the wire plugs into it at. so it is possible that depending on the routing of the wire it could follow that and then drip off somewhere else i guess.

The only way to know for sure is to clean it up real good to find out where it's coming from. Fuel in the valley back that far is generally the fuel pump going out and leaking from the weephole. Hope you get it worked out.

How difficult is it to replace a fuel pump? I'm no mechanic but pictures of a new fuel pump look like you plug 4 hoses. Can a rookie do this?

FordPower, anyone can do it, besides what could go wrong? Right. It just takes patients. Try this link it should help https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ight=fuel+pump. I have done other repairs to my truck from this site and all has been good. I have to do the fp myself, I just haven't had time. This coming weekend is when I plan on doing it.

You can do it....

Yes a rookie can do this. Just be careful when you undo the pump and move it off its perch. Do not drop the pump pushrod down into the engine block. You can minimize the possibility of this happening by turning the engine over by hand with a large socket on the crankshaft so that the camshaft is at the top of its stroke. Undo the bolts for the pump but leave it stuck in place until the turning engine lifts it off the gasket.

Man..........where were you 3 weeks ago!!! The ford house calls it a vaccum switch. It's the sensor that turns on the water in fuel light. I didn't even think about going to international for it. DAMN IT! I paid $74 for mine. But no more leak!!! I too thought it was the fuel pump. So I bought one of those too. Oh well, I guess I'm ready when it does go.
