Mechanical Fuel Pump Oil Leak????

Either I'm loosing my mind or this is a wierd one...

Does anyone think it's possible for a mechanical fuel pump (400) to leak oil, not fuel, from the crimped seam between the bottom 1/2 and top 1/2. Pump is working fine and not leaking any fuel, but I have an oil leak that wets the fuel pump first after the entire area is cleaned.

I've heard of them leaking gas into the oil or leaking oil around where they mate to the block, but never heard of one leaking oil from the housing.

Thanks for any thoughts....

It's possible I guess. Did you check for fuel in the oil? I had a 302 that looked like that and it ended up being the oil sending unit spraying on it where I couldn't see it at first. I'm not sure if your oil sending unit is down there or not.
