I am sure there are numerous threads already devoted to this topic however without the use of the search feature they are pretty darn difficult to locate.
I am looking to get either a 2" or 2.5" leveling kit for my 2004 4X4 FX4 CC Diesel
My question is - what are the preferred kits on the market today and what are the merits of each? I am in the DFW so if anyone has recomendations on a place to purchase the kit and get it installed that would be helpful too.
I will be looking to upgrade my tires to 325/65/18 (on stock 8" wide rims) after I get the kit.
If your are going with 35" tires typically you would need a minimum of 4" of lift. The DR 4.5" hanger kit is a good one.
contact Marty or Kevin at truck toyz they are very helpful
if that is the case i think i will be going witht he 305s instead of the 325s - i had them test fited on my stock rig and it was pretty close so i figured 2" would be plenty
I am not going to do anything more than a leveling kit

Well if you had them stock fitted and you think you can get away with it... go with the DR 2" mini spring pack also from trucktoyz there in Texas.
If the truck is a street queen it may work however any flex off road and i think you would have rubbing issues just my .02 cents.
My rims are 17" and the tires are 35x12.50... exact measurement I think is 34.7 I think. My trucks an '05... the front suspension and wheel backspacing stock is totally different than the 99-04s. These can fit bigger tires stock/with minimal lift...
You might be able to go with 35s with the mini-spring pack... What's your front spring code? X-springs and the DR 2" should be plenty. I'd swap out the rear blocks for F350s if you go that route or your truck will sit nose high.
My truck already has camper package so i think that means it sits a little higher - at least it seems to sit higher than others i have seen. Any idea what purchase and install costs on the 2" DR kit?
I see... you can get the kit from Wheeler's Offroad for under $200 (they have the best prices of DR stuff that I've seen) and it shouldn't be too hard a job to do by yourself. If you want to get it installed by a shop I'd go with Trucktoyz as mentioned above... I've heard nothing but good things about those guys & the work they do.
I put a ready lift leveling kit on my 2005 F350 but I have coil springs. That made it easy and cheaper to add 3". I would not replace the spring on your front end on your truck unless you do all of your off-road time in a mall parking lot. By the time you put on longer brake lines and all of the refitting it's not worth the time and money. You will have to spend more for a lift kit but it's a better system. After I leveled out my truck I wish I had put on a 4" lift kit. I can fit 37" tires under my truck now but I want it to be higher. I just don't want anyone make the mistake I did and just level it. LIFT IT! you will not regret it.
