Suggestions for my Ex

I'm upgrading the sound in my Excursion and would like some suggestions regarding a couple of things.
So far I have installed:
Head unit - Alpine IVA-W200
Navigation - Alpine NVE-N872A
Backup Camera

I've just purchased some speakers to replace the stockers but this is where I need some help.
The aftermarkets are deeper so should I use spacers or cut the sheet metal?
For the fronts I bought components:
1. Where should I mount the tweeters?
2. I like the look of the crossovers where would be a good place to display them?

Thanks for reading all of this and for your suggestions.
Bob

i would put the tweets on the pillars towards the bottom. and you can mount the cross overs inside the door

Thanks for the suggestion.
Does anybody know if I can get an A-pillar gauge pod for the passenger side?
On the driver side I plan on getting a quad pod (3 gauges +1 for the tweeter). Can I get a single or double(voltmeter?) for the passenger side?

Sorry for all the questions but this is the first car stereo I've ever installed or owned other than factory.

Matt, I think you misunderstood me. I want the pod on the passenger side to mount the tweeter the 2 1/16" holes would be perfect and look clean.

Netek, I'm very happy with the iva-w200 tho only gripe I have is that it doesn't have a better built in EQ.

What components are they? Do the tweets have mounts that allow you to countersink them into the door panel? I would mount them there, especially if they have swivel plates where you can turn them towards you. It gives a cleaner, more factory look on the install than on the pillars. plus it does not advertise them as much to someone walking by.

When you say the aftermarkets are deeper - are you referring to their mounting depth or the actual hole where to fit through? If it is mounting depth, I would see if a spacer would fit and still be able to put the door panel back on. If it is the hole itself is not large enough, I would trim where needed with aircraft shears. Or use spacers if they fit to save some work.

I agree on the EQ on the 200. I was disappointed on that myself. I replaced my old 3DA-W882 Apline double din with the IVA-W200. The 882 has better parameters than the 200. I ended up ordering the PXA-H701 to help compensate.

I'm not a Rockford Fosgate guy but I got them cheap.
Any suggestions for displaying the crossovers, they look nice chrome and lighted

Cobra I'm talking about the actual mounting depth. I'll try to space them if that causes it to hit the door panel, I'll cut a hole behind the speaker and create a pocket with dynamat.

I'm not as familiar with the door panels on an Excursion, but I can give an idea you might look at. We mounted the crossovers on a friend of mine's Explorer on the door panel where the door light is on the bottom. This is not a place they will be seen when driving, but when the door is open, they look great. I don't know how you are at cutting and fiberglassing, but you could always cut a place in the door panel and mold a pocket for them.

Another place might be the kick panels on each side below the dash.

Just a couple of ideas....

Thanks for the suggestions. I was already thinking about the kick panels. I'll take a look at the doors. Like I mentioned above this is my first aftermaket stereo (and install) but
I'm not scared of cutting and I want to try my hand at fibreglassing.
You wouldn't have any pics of the explorer doors would you.
Great signature line

Fiberglassing is not that hard. It is a great way to make things that are not readily available. I got into it from wanting things that were not available. I could see them in my head and knew what look I wanted, but nothing was out there, so I had to create it myself. I suggest getting the supplies and a shoebox. Start with it and other small projects. Get use to working with it, how much to mix, etc. Then start doing other things. You will be amazed at how easy it becomes after a little bit of practice.

I have been trying to find pics of Jerry's Explorer, but have not seen any yet. I'll keep looking and if I find them, I'll let you know...

My sig basically describes me to a tee....
