I was wondering what else could cause a sudden shut down. I went through the car was and let the truck idling while drying it off, then suddenly it shut off and will not restart. I have ordered a cps and will install it as soon as i get it, but i was just wondering what else could have gone out. I have to mention that the tachometer DOES register when i crank the engine. So i am puzzled if the cps has really gone out, or not. The truck is a 2000, with 85000 miles on it, and was running just fine until the shut down.

edit: could it be the computer?? how does one trouble shoot it??

Even on 99-01 models, the tach can still move when cranking even when the CPS is bad.

Another thing you can look at is the UVC harness.
