I have a friend that loves using his for keeping his surfboards down in his bed, that's why he went with the Xtender. I think it looks great on his ride too.
We have 16 customer reviews for the Westin Xtender and I saw some that specifically mentioned their F150's.
Is there any advantage to the Westin Bed Extender v. the one Ford offers?
Westin has a 3 - year warranty and they are strong and durable.....
You'll likely pay a lot more for having one from Ford and a lot of times, OEM companies make parts like these for vehicle manufacturers so you'll many times be getting the same product, but you just pay more for that Ford name.

They just take very minor drilling for the 4 brackets that hold the extender in place, then it rotates for when you need to open and close the tailgate.
The 4 brackets are U shaped and fit rit into place inside your bed.

The Westin bed extender, at least for the 06 F-150 bolts the mounting channel bracket right into the holes Ford has already drilled into the rear upright channel in the truck bed (you will have 3 holes in the rear upright channel in the bed) you use the top and bottom hole to bolt the channel bracket onto the bed.
