Alternator
Thanks

FLD is the field terminal on the alternator. The regulator puts more or less voltage on this terminal, and that varies the output of the alternator and how much it charges the battery. If you are unsure if the regulator is bad, or the alternator is bad, a good test is to take the FLD wire off the alternator, and put a temporary wire from the bat + to the FLD terminal. This will make the alternator go wide open charge, and you will see the voltage rise way up at the battery with a meter hooked to it.
The STA is the stator terminal. It's hooked to the windings inside the alternator, and is sometimes not used. If you have a charge light in the dash, then the STA terminal is used. It's also used to power the factory electric choke on the carb.
