No at least I don't think so, when I worked for GM years ago chevy's was a rod that came down the steering column and pinned into the neutral safety / ignition sw I'm assuming ford is probably similar
The neutral saftey switch in on the trans, it's adjustable by loosening the 2 bolts. But before I did that I would check for play in the shifter cable or a worn out shifter cable.
I was just under the dash the other day wiring my airhorn and noticed a kind of switch looking thing that had the capability of being loosened ot tightened. It may be the neutral safety because it had the stopper that could be adjusted and the metal rod that went beyond where I could see. Might be worth taking a look. Just open the fuse box access panel at the knee strike and take a look up you'll see it running along the column. Don't want to make you go on a wild goose chase, but I figured it couldn't hurt mentioning.
