The odometer on my '54 F-100 has not worked since I bought it in 1977. I took it apart to see why. The gear going from the speedo to the gear that connects to the gear that turns the odometer does not turn. I can not take it apart anymore as far as I can tell. Does it just need a lube job (and what should I use for lube). On an earlier thread or in the the good old lists there was discussion of the lube hole. I found it but it was full of crud. What kind of lube do you use and how do you get it in the hole? I have another speedo that the odometer works but the speedo doesn't! Any solutions. One can not find a speedo shop anymore nowdays.
Thanks, Abe
If your speedometer needs to be fixed or recalibrated check out United Speedometer Service in Riverside, CA. They have a website, www.speedometershop.com. They have been around since the '50's and do very good work. And for the lube, I think watch oil will work for it. You don't want to use anything too heavy.
